Kids Taskforce Strategic Alliance Agreement
Kids Taskforce has formed a unique and historic alliance with the UK’s emergency services and many corporate partners with the aim of making children’s lives safer throughout the country.

Lancaster House was the setting for a unique event on 30th November 2010, whereby Kids Taskforce brought together partners from more than 30 different organisations to pledge their collective support for our programmes. Kindly hosted by ITN's Julie Etchingham we would like to thank all who braved the weather (and student demonstrations) to attend, particularly the principal speakers - Sir Hugh Orde, Nazir Afzal, Barry Mizen, Jonathan Palmer and Liz Ellison.

The 2010 Strategic Alliance Agreement between Kids Taskforce, ACPO, CFOA, PFA and the Ambulance Service Network demonstrates a joint commitment to deliver targeted safety programmes to children and young people within our society.

Below are the statements signed by our allies.

acpoACPO
Policing can only be effective with the full support of the public. The more confident and law abiding everyone is the safer our communities are.

Our young people are our future and we need to invest in them if they are to have the ability to create ever safer and more enjoyable communities.

The Association of Chief Police Officers is committed to building the confidence of, and positive relationships with, young people, helping to inform them about the dangers and risks of crime, reassuring young victims and working to reduce the severity of youth crime.

Kids Taskforce programme assists these areas. ACPO is pleased that with CFOA, PFA and the Ambulance Service network a strategic alliance has been formed to help bring the benefits to young people across the country.

Sir Hugh Orde OBE, QPM, President: Association of Chief Police Officers

CFOACFOA
CFOA very much value the work done by Kids Taskforce via both the Watch Over Me films and the missdorothy.com programme.

We are committed to encouraging the education of all children in fire safety, which is recognised as a long term preventative activity, and indeed in all aspects of wider safety and wellbeing.

CFOA aims to reach every child in the UK through targeted learning programmes.
We wish Kids Taskforce every success with the continuing development of the programmes.

CFO Peter Holland CBE, OStJ, QFSM, FIFireE, President: Chief Fire Officers' Association

Ambulance Sevice networkAmbulance Service Network
The Ambulance Service Network, together with all eleven English NHS ambulance service trusts, is grateful for the opportunity to join this strategic alliance which seeks to place the welfare and safety of children at the heart of public engagement.

Ambulance services are often the 'gateway' to the health service so they have a central role to play in looking after children and building committed partnerships with the emergency services. We hope that in future children can get the right care, in the right place and at the right time aided by this integrated approach.

We look forward to working together for the good of the nation's children.

PFAPFA
The Professional Footballers' Association is delighted to support Kids Taskforce and work in harmony with the other key national organisations.

As pioneers for football's social responsibility and founders of the Football in the Community schemes, we consider this agreement to be of significant importance within our charitable portfolio.

Helping young people learn how to reduce risk and assist their decision-making in situations of potential danger empowers them for their future.

Football can play a vital role in engaging young people where they may otherwise switch off - by working with other key agencies the PFA and our members can help reduce crime and create opportunity for the next generation.

Gordon Taylor OBE, Chief Executive: Professional Footballers' Association

In addition to our strategic alliances, Kids taskforce has forged the following alliances with the following organisations in categories: Founder partners, associate partners and corporate partners.

cpsThe Crown Prosecution Service
The Crown Prosecution Service is pleased to be able to join in partnership with Kids Taskforce. Protecting the public is a vital part of prosecutors work. Supporting and working with Kids Taskforce is a really effective way of doing this. We have contributed to many of the exceptional DVDs and materials Kids Taskforce have produced which deliver a necessarily hard-hitting message on the impact of criminal behaviour on youth and on our society. The Kids Taskforce focus on getting those messages direct to the young audience has real impact in preventing harm. A well informed child is a safer child.

Jimmy MizenJimmy Mizen Foundation
We believe the best answers to the most pressing of issues about the safety and development of our young people is through early intervention and education. Although, as a society we want instant answers to many of our social problems, those responses tend to be tougher policing, causing resentment, and ever harsher punishments, which do not get to the root of the problem. i.e. prevention. So, whilst this is a quick response of sorts, the long term and sustainable solutions are through effective education delivered by appropriate resources.

We are pleased to work with Kids Taskforce as its missdorothy.com and Watch Over Me school resources are professionally written and fit for purpose.

mandellaNelson Mandela Children's Fund
We believe that children and young people need the necessary knowledge and skills to help them manage risk in their lives. Kids Taskforce has been set up to support the delivery of a consistent standard of the most common safety messages to them through the missdorothy.com and Watch Over Me education programmes.

The Nelson Mandela Children's Fund has worked tirelessly over the past 15 years to change the way society treats its children and youth, and make the world familiar with the smiles of children rather than their tears.

It is a complex undertaking that requires the active engagement of all sectors of society to bring about a better future. That better future can only be possible if all of us are united in the belief that children are the foundation upon which our countries should be built. The participation of children and young people in this movement is essential, and we should all enhance the rights of children to reach their full potential.

We are therefore excited to be working together with Kids Taskforce to help children and young people lead safer lives and are delighted to support the aims of this wonderful organisation.

The International Labour Organisation and SCREAM Education Package
The Kids Taskforce has signed a memorandum of understanding with ILO to promote the Supporting Childrens Rights through Education the Arts and the Media (SCREAM) education pack which is designed to increase understanding and awareness of child labour. Through creative and innovative teaching methods the SCREAM programme aims to inform children and young people about the world in which they live and the injustices that exist. The pack helps explain issues surrounding child labour, so that young people themselves will be empowered to speak out on behalf of child labourers everywhere.

The character Angenelou in the missdorothy.com programme is a real child that Sharon Doughty and Neil Evans met at the United Nations with a group of police cadets from the Metropolitan Police. He was at the UN to tell his story and to ask adults for help in eliminating child labour.

The SCREAM education pack introduces young people to the complexities surrounding issues of child labour and helps them to channel their creative energies in a positive and constructive way. It is hoped that in time a worldwide social movement will emerge dedicated to giving working children back their right to childhood.

The SCREAM education pack consists of 14 modules and user's guide and can be downloaded from http://www.ilo.org/ipec/Campaignandadvocacy /Scream/SCREAMresources/lang--en/index.htm
