Education and Kids Taskforce
The missdorothy.com and Watch Over Me programmes are designed to be delivered by the teacher and supported by the local police, fire service and football club, whose representatives can take part in the appropriate safety lessons whenever possible.
This not only adds interest for the young people, it also helps to build valuable community relationships at an early age and makes children aware that the police and fire service are there to help them and keep them safe.
Every lesson is accompanied by detailed teaching notes that highlight the relevant curriculum areas covered. The missdorothy.com and Watch Over Me programmes can be used as stand-alone safety resources or incorporated into existing schemes.
The programmes are recommended by many organisations involved in child safety including RoSPA and the National Children’s Bureau. They complement programmes such as Social and Emotional Aspects of Learning (SEAL) and fit many other requirements, as detailed below:
» Every Child Matters
» Excellence and Enjoyment
» SEAL materials
» Personal, Social and Health Education
(PSHE) and Citizenship
» Healthy Schools
» SEF (Self Evaluation Form) - section 4
» Local Government Association
